A little bit of history . . .
The original, 1300+ member group worked together from 2000 - 2012. In the link below, I explained how the revival and re-launch of Bill’s Book “True Horsemanship Through Feel” discussion group works — for this second time around! Some of you remember that a Yahoo Group with a similar name was started in Oslo in 2000. Almost 20,000 copies of Bills book were newly published and in circulation at the time. The timely emergence of this study group was an instantly smashing success. It was growing and enjoyed continuously by its eventual 1,300+ members. For many reasons, interest tapered off about 12 years later. The archives remained accessible, but the activities ceased and the membership lay dormant until Yahoo shut the doors for good on their old discussion groups last January. If you cannot join me soon for this live announcement, today’s recorded introduction and invitation will remain posted on this group, and shared with the other group and pages I oversee. You are certainly welcome to forward it along to other groups and that permit an announcement of this kind, if you wish.
NOTE: Details of what to expect, when, where, and from whom will be explained, and in the hope that people who want to get acquainted with the underlying philosophy and beliefs Bill advocated will find satisfaction. I have experienced myself the distinctly special enjoyment that is possible when an opportunity to learn in the company of like minded horse lovers becomes available. For those who are ready to dig into this collection of work, now is the time. Bill’s words were out in print for this reason. His message and methods are still very much alive and available to anyone who seeks them. Sometimes people say that this manual holds the “secrets” of Bill Dorrance’s life’s work, but this isn’t true. If it were a secret, for sure this knowledge wouldn’t have been published. He hoped it would be put to use as soon as possible. I want that every person who desires to better understand the way horses show us how they think and feel and need from us, can find out about and join in this discussion . . . . to lurk and listen, or to watch, reflect, and contribute ... as it suits each person best. So we all are clear about one important point: please respect that mention of other trainers and approaches to horses is best saved for discussion in another forum. The people mobilizing for this sharing seek information that is geared and aimed expressly for results that accrue to those who are ready to invest the time it takes to study the teachings that Bill left to us through his written and spoken words, photographs and videos. This is intended to function well as an open, largely self-monitored public discussion. Monthly selections for study and discussion will be provided by the discussion Moderator, Karen Musson and Richard Weinberg. FOAH Team members Antonio Hidalgo, Cody Deering, and I will provide supporting video content for this discussion each month.
